The avowed objectives of the Indian Institute
of directors are :
To
create and nurture a strong, informed, dedicated and committed body
of directors which will forever uphold values of the highest order.
To
endeavour to create an
environment in which business can flourish freely without
impediments and help Directors of companies to discharge their
duties effectively.
To
represent the business community spearheaded by the Corporate
Director, to the Government, regulatory bodies and the media.
To
provide a wide range of products & services that will support the
needs of the individual Directors.
To
provide information and advice, to encourage and facilitate on-going
personal and professional development of Directors.
To
set appropriate professional and ethical standards of practice and
behaviour for Directors.
To
encourage and motivate Company Directors to become Associate Members
of the Institute to ensure stronger representation before the
Government and regulatory bodies wherever and whenever appropriate,
in the interest of the industrial and economic growth of the
country.
To
imbibe confidence and generate respect for the community of
Directors who satisfy the requirements and standards set by the
Institute.
To
impart and promote education of Directors, and to hone their skills
for enhancing standards of corporate governance.
To
create proper fora for
discussions and debates on subjects of topical interest and
importance to Directors.
To
carry out research, collect and compile information relating to
corporate governance.
To
protect the rights and interest of Directors who are members and who
are in lawful pursuit of their corporate goals.
